High frequency hearing, particularly in men, tends to drop off noticeably as you get older.  Because my audio elitism goes only so far I naturally assumed I could not hear the so called “mosquito ringtone.”  However I can indeed hear this sound in all its annoying glory.  Give it a try.

I'm not sure how accurate this is - I have hearing damage and I know that there is a spectrum that has been damaged by a collapsed ear drum and surgery - yet i can hear this.  I do not hear it as a buzzing, i hear it as a single high pitched tone - as if someone just hit the worlds smallest triangle and the tone carries infinitely.

Also, its something that I could tune out quickly if need be.  I'm more succeptable to intense low frequencies myself....

I'm also pleased that by my typing "XFQRZ" I have done my part in preventing robots.   preventing them from "what" is the next question.  I hope I prevented them from doing something bad, and not something good.  DARPA has been working on physical therapy robots for use with military rehabilitation - I hope I didn't prevent that.
